March ushered in the gradual transition to spring in the usual fashion; daffodils first, followed by hyacinths, camellias, and cherry blossoms. Rhododendrons, azaleas and tulips are next. I feel an air of optimism in the air as the days grow longer and warmer, especially given the lifted indoor mask mandate.
Outside of work, I started training for my first triathlon in June. Additionally, I make an effort to stay social, but never at the expense of sufficient time to unwind with a book or TV show.

Last weekend, I spent a special Sunday at Dennis and Rachel's farm outside of Salem. I did a work/stay exchange on the organic farm before I moved to Portland in
2018. After such a great experience, I visited again in
2019. Dennis and Rachel are an extremely genuine and hard-working couple who lead beautiful, active lives. The farm is home to a variety of crops and vineyards, as well as happily spoiled cats, sheep, goats, alpaca, chickens and ducks. I was excited to get down and dirty on the farm, helping with spring pruning, soil turnover, and gate building--and of course, catching up! I very much look forward to my next visit to Cadence Valley.
Back at home, I watch my Louie cat grow bigger with each day.
